The Prairie Winds Concert Band provides an opportunity for area instrumentalists to continue playing and performing in the context of the concert band, while serving the West Central area as a provider of musical entertainment and community involvement.

We are on the look for a new permenant director of Prairie Winds Concert Band starting September 2025. We rehearse Monday nights 7-9pm at WEAC in Willmar. Sept-Nov and Jan-May

We need all applications to in by February 15, 2025. We plan to narrow applicants down to 4 and give a chance of those 4 to direct a chosen piece with the band and interview with the board. A finalist will be chosen soon after that.

  • To provide an opportunity for individual musical expression and growth among the membership.
  • To provide an opportunity for contact between musicians of varying proficiencies for the purpose of continued
    musical growth as well as community fellowship.
  • To reaffim the community concert band position in American music.

Our Summer director
is Dennis Benson

 

Bailey Benoit is the current band director at Litchfield High School.

Nate Sikkink is the current band director at KMS in Kerkhoven.

Dennis Benson will be our summer season director. Born in Grove City, he attended Ridgewater College and Bemidji University graduating with a major in Music Education. He has directed the group many times in the past and when not directing plays trombone.

We are grateful to have support from the Willmar Area Community Foundation and Southwest Minnesota Arts Council.
